Workplan

Work Package 1 : Materials synthesis and characterisation

The goal of WP1 is to develop four categories of organic semi-conductors containing nature-inspired building blocks such as high-mobility light emitting and host materials for broadband organic light sources (High-speed OLEDs), laser gain materials for Short pulse Organic Lasers) and high mobility materials for High-Speed Organic photodetectors.

Work Package 2 : High-speed OLEDs and organic lasers

The objectives of WP2 are to design and fabricate High-speed OLEDs, and Short pulse Organic Lasers with larger bandwidth than previously thought possible exceeding the landmark limit of 1 GHz. Performance close to GaN LEDs and silicon photodiodes as needed for both 6G (800 MHz) and data communication (4 Gbit/s) are targeted.

Work Package 3 : High-speed Organic Photodetectors

The objectives of WP2 are to design and fabricate and High-Speed Organic photodetectors.

Work Package 4 : Life Cycle Analysis

The goal of WP4 is to asses Life Cycle Analysis of the material and devices. The development of new life cycle analysis-based (LCA) metrics will help to arbitrate choices between optimal environmental considerations and optimal design of optical communications devices.

Work Package 5 : Portfolio Management

As part of the Responsible Electronics Portfolio member, HiSOPE dedicates efforts to scientific collaborations on specific topics as well as joint dissemination and exploitation strategies with other projects selected by the Responsible Electronics call.

Work Package 6 : Proof of Concept Dissemination an Exploitation

In WP6, the aim is to demonstrate the potential of organic electronics and optoelectronics for Data Communication, Optical Wireless Communication, IoT, automotive and to capitalize on the industrial maturity and excellent performance of Organic Electronics while targeting date rate efficiency as low as 1 pJ/bit and below.
In WP6, new organic mixers and modulators for intermediate frequency (IF) signals will be designed, fabricated and tested.

Work Package 7 : Project Management

WP 8 ensures seamless project coordination through robust management procedures, legal and financial oversight, and effective communication across the consortium. By monitoring progress, managing risks, and sharing data via a structured plan, we set a framework to efficiently drive innovation.
